The Abiding Presence

Sharing from my devotional, Everyday Light, I read this morning.
There is an all-at-onceness about the coming of the Holy Spirit into our lives ~ and also a continuity. Marriage is perhaps the best illustration I can use to clarify what I mean here. Just as there is an all-at-onceness about marriage ~ you don't get married again every day if you are reall married; it is a once and for all ~ yet there are daily adjustment to be made around the great central adjustment. You can be married all at once, yet it takes a long time to be married well, for more and more mutual adjustments have to be made, and more and more areas of surrender experienced.

D.L. Moody once said, "Ephesians 5:18 is not just an experience to be enjoyed but a command to be obeyed. If we do not open ourselves to a daily encounter with the Holy Spirit, the inevitable conclusion is that we are disobedient Christians."

Oh Father, forgive me that I tend to treat the Holy Spirit more as a Visitor than a Companion. From today on, I want to change. Come in, Holy Spirit, to reside and preside. In Christ's Name I pray. Amen.

Are you filled with the Spirit?

I pretty much ready my Bible every single day. I try to read by plan, but sometimes I just read I think I should be reading - and I know it is not from me - but Him...

I love this blog, Beckie :)

This is such a wise post. I think anything of great value is gained by a slow process of learning and growing. You have written a beautiful ananlogy.
It's so nice to meet you.
